Gold hoard unearthed

A metal detectorist found the largest hoard of prehistoric gold coins in Britain. He was walking with his metal detector trough East Anglia when he found 824 solid gold staters, weighing over 10 kg, burried in a plain pottery vessel. Most of the coins were minted by royal predecessors of Boudicca. She was the warrior queen of the Iceni tribe. This tribe had a tradition of making votive offerings of other gold objects between 15 and AD 20. The staters were circulating in a field near Wickham Market, Suffolk.

My opinion:
It is an important discovery of historical occurrences because it highlights the probable political, economic and religious importance of an area on the southern fringe of Icenian territory. I can not understand why someone would buried his or her wealth. And a sacrifice seems like a weird explanation to me.
